Frequently Asked Questions

Because bone broth increases perishability, store hummus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Always use a clean spoon to avoid contamination. If it develops off smells, visible mold, or a slimy texture, discard it.
Yes — you can freeze it for up to 2 months in a freezer-safe container. Expect some texture change (graininess or separation) after thawing. Thaw overnight in the fridge, then whisk or re-blend with a little fresh bone broth, olive oil, or aquafaba to restore creaminess.
Yes. Canned chickpeas work well and save time. Drain and rinse them, reserve a little aquafaba (can use instead of or with bone broth), and peel skins if you want extra-smooth hummus. Warm beans slightly before blending for a silkier texture.
Grainy hummus usually comes from undercooked or cold beans, not peeling skins (optional), or insufficient blending. Fix it by blending longer at high speed, adding warm bone broth or a little ice water/olive oil, and scraping the bowl. For future batches, cook beans until very tender or use a food processor with a powerful motor.
If too thin, add more drained chickpeas or tahini and blend until smooth. If too thick, drizzle in warm bone broth, olive oil, or reserved aquafaba one tablespoon at a time while blending until you reach the desired creaminess. Season again after adjusting.
Yes — make it 24–48 hours ahead and refrigerate in an airtight container. Before serving, bring to room temperature for 20–30 minutes or re-blend with a splash of bone broth or olive oil to refresh the texture. Garnish with paprika, olive oil, and chopped herbs just before serving.
